Margaret is survived by her nieces Elizabeth Underwood Bridgers (Johnny), Missy Underwood Miller (Will) and nephew Willis Boykin Underwood III (Wooten) and many great and great great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved cats, Alfie and Andy who will miss her terribly. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Helen Hosier Underwood and Willis Boykin Underwood; brother Willis Boykin Underwood Jr.; and niece Cynthia Underwood Felder.
Born August 15, 1933, she grew up in Greensboro, NC. Margaret graduated from Greensboro Senior High School (now Grimsley High School), Randolph Macon Women's College and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also got a graduate degree from University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Margaret had many different vocations-all encompassing her many interests. She taught art at Guilford College, Forsyth County schools and Saint Mary’s Junior College. She was a medical technician at Moses Cone Hospital and a graduate teaching assistant at UNC-Greensboro.
Margaret was a gifted musician and artist. She was truly creative in every sense. She saw beauty in birds, nature and animals. She loved all genres of music. She loved traveling to all parts of the United States and the world. Margaret had many friends- she was devoted to her childhood friends and her many Facebook friends.
The family is deeply appreciative of all the incredible and compassionate care she received from the staff from Authora Care Collective, Gail Ratliffe and Linda Wolfe.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 607 N. Greene St, Greensboro, NC on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 11:00am and afterwards with a reception at the church.
