Martha Rebecca "Becky" Burton

Martha Rebecca “Becky” Burton, 87, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025, at AuthoraCare Burlington. Born April 11, 1937, in Guilford Co., NC, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Eula Moore Bean.

Becky dedicated her life to creating a warm and welcoming home for her family. Throughout the years, she and her husband owned several beach properties, particularly cherishing their time at Oak Island where they enjoyed the coastal lifestyle, beach music, dancing, and making lasting memories. An active member of her community, she participated regularly in her church's bowling league. She enjoyed gambling/card games and time well spent with family and friends.

Her nurturing spirit touched everyone around her, exemplified in her role as a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was well known for her cooking skills, particularly her exceptional pound cake, and found joy in sharing meals with others. Her gentle demeanor and genuine love for people, especially her family, left an indelible impression on all who knew her. She also possessed remarkable talent in gardening, taking particular pride in her flourishing garden and beautiful rose bushes.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burton was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Burton of 67 years, who she loved dearly and was spoiled rotten by. Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Tony Burton and wife, Jan, Robin George and husband, David; grandchildren, Adam Burton and wife, Tami and their daughter Mackenzie, Ryan Burton and wife, Ashely and their son, Tristan, Timothy Reece and wife, Jessica and their daughter, Maleigha, Taylor Reece and wife Autumn and their sons, Cole and Cooper and, Annie George and her husband Peyton and their daughter, Brynnlee. Also surviving are many loving siblings, family member and friends.
