Mrs. Martha Carroll Williams

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 1, 2011, at West Market St. United Methodist Church, with Rev. Pam Strader officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Born in Rocky Mount, NC, to the late Jackson Hugh Carroll and Jane Safrit Carroll, Mrs. Williams was a life-long member of West Market St. United Methodist Church, where she served as an usher and was an officer in the First Couples Class. Martha attended

Appalachian State University for two years, graduated from Louisburg College, received her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, and went on to receive another Master’s Degree in Library Science, both from UNCG. She retired as a Media Specialist from the Guilford County School Systems, after 32 years of employment. Martha was a member of The Greensboro Horticultural Club, The Greensboro Writers Club, and The Greensboro Bird Club. Martha was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was kind, caring, generous, and compassionate person with a sharp sense of humor. She freely gave of her time to help her family and friends with a joyful spirit and took interest in their lives. Martha touched many with her wit and charm and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Oliver Lee Williams, and a son-in-law, Ed Love.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Carroll Lee Love and Candace W. Williams and her husband David, all of Greensboro; and grandchildren, Lee Love and his wife Pamela, Beven Love, Adam Williams, and Daniel Williams.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Wednesday evening November 30, 2011 at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm St. Chapel.
