

Pat was born in Greensboro where she resided for most of her life. She attended Greensboro High school, attended SEMS college in Buena Vista, Virginia and graduated from King’s Business college in Greensboro. She worked for Western Electric company in Atlanta where she met and married the late Don Denning. They lived temporarily in Germany while Don was in the Army, then moved back to Greensboro to raise a family.
Pat attended several local churches through the years and always had a strong faith as a Christian. She enjoyed weekly women’s luncheons, bible study, working part time in childcare, and volunteered at local hospitals. Her hobbies included gardening, bird watching, poetry, art and taking classes at the Shepherd Senior Center.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Mateer, sister Marilyn Mateer Sherrill, and brother Mike Mateer. Pat is survived by and was a devoted mother to her son, Donald L. Denning, Jr. “Pete” of Greensboro and daughter Patricia L. Denning (Jackie) of Youngsville, NC.
The family would like to give special thanks to her many devoted care givers the past few years including Jamie Furchess and crew (Greensboro), Renaissance Care Home, and Gentiva Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, American Heart Association or organizations of choice.
A graveside service will be held at Westminster Gardens Cemetery, Greensboro, North Carolina on Tuesday, February 3rd at 1 o'clock.
