Mattie Lee Wiggins Perry

Mattie Lee Wiggins Perry, 82, of Greensboro and formerly of Washington, DC passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at her son’s residence in Greensboro. She was the loving wife of the late Benjamin Perry, Sr.

Born on April 28, 1941 in Pinetops, NC she was the daughter of the late Willie Hill and Betty Wiggins. At an early age, Mattie moved to Washington, DC after her mother passed away. She met her husband, Benjamin Perry, Sr. at the age of 16. She retired from the District of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department in Washington, DC. She loved politics, golf (Tiger Woods) and Michael Jackson. Mattie was a meticulous woman in the way she dressed as well as writing everything down. She loved her sons and family.

She is survived by her two sons, Benjamin L. Perry, Jr. and wife Linda and James Perry and wife Theresa; nine grandchildren, Carlton, Isaiah, Sade’, Melisha, Raymond, JJ, Carla, Nicole, and Kourtney; four great grandchildren, Sean, Zora, Cairo and Tyrona; special friends, Lucy Suddreth, Dorothy Gray, Sarah Brown and Bonnie Braswell; cousins, Jean, LaTanya, Yvonne, Teresa and Mae Helen; and a host of uncles, aunts, friends and colleagues.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 2-4 pm at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, 515 N Elm Street, Greensboro, NC.
