Mike was born on April 2, 1951, in Winston-Salem, NC, the first-born son of Mr. Louis Brumsey & Mrs. Elizabeth “Wendie” (Moore) Brumsey. To those who knew him, Mike was steady and kind - someone you could count on. He valued honesty, hard work, and family above all else. His sense of humor and easygoing nature made him a joy to be around, and his loyalty to his family was unmatched.
Mike was a proud veteran of the US Navy. Joining after graduating from Grimsley High School in Greensboro, NC, his service took him to Kodiak, Alaska and later on two cruises to the South Pacific and Asia aboard USS Leonard F. Mason during the Vietnam conflict. Following his time in the service, Mike attended and received his degree in Business from NC State University, and was a lifelong fan of the Wolfpack.
Mike spent 20+ years in the electrical contracting industry in and around Raleigh, NC, and in later years was proud to join his brother, Andrew Brumsey’s business, On-Site Hose of Apex, NC where he was affectionately known by all as “Uncle Mike”. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking projects, and in recent years joined a Life Writing class where he wrote and shared stories both of fiction and from his life.
Mike was a devoted father to his two sons, Benjamin and Patrick. Though life brought its challenges, he met them all with quiet strength and a deep sense of purpose - always putting his boys first. He was their protector and their biggest supporter.
Mike is survived by his sons, Michael (Benjamin) Brumsey and wife Kimberly of Wilmington, NC, and Patrick Brumsey and wife Jessica of Wilmington, NC, and his three grandchildren, Brighton Brumsey (8), Lucas Brumsey (5), and Olivia Brumsey (3).
