Michael Kyle Hawks

Michael Kyle Hawks Sr., age 66, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017 in Greensboro, NC. Michael is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Michael Jr. (Leslie) Hawks, and two daughters & sons-in-law, Mary (Brad) Hennis, and Amanda (Jay) Jackson; loving sister & brother-in-law Beverly (Jeffrey) Burchett, brother & sister-in-law Tony (Vicky) Hawks; his grandchildren Kenley Hawks and Kevin Hennis as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by, Robert Kyle Hawks (father), Molly McCoy Hawks (mother) and Patsy Yow Hawks (beloved wife).

Michael worked for Duke Energy for 35 years. He was dedicated to his work, rising from a lineman into management. He was hard working both at work and at home, and had a deep love for the Lord. He was a devoted husband to the late Patsy Ann Hawks for 31 years. He was a caring father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He never met a stranger and touched many lives.

Michael had a passion for serving his country in the United States Marine Corp. He served during the Vietnam Era, advancing to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Michael had many other life accomplishments including being a member of the Free Masons (Gate City Lodge #694), International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and an avid outdoorsman.

A memorial service will be held for Michael on July 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Funeral Services, 6000 West Gate City Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27407. The family will receive family and friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
