Mossie B. Estes

Mossie Barton Estes, 95, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Beacon Place. She was born on December 8, 1922, one of eleven children of William and Minnie Loop Barton. She lived her life devoted to her family and relished every minute she could spend with them. She loved music, but especially gospel music, sewing, and loved to dance. Mossie started attending Tabernacle Baptist Church in 1946 and became a member on March 6th, 1955. She taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was a true classic southern lady. She will be deeply missed.

Mossie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward S. Estes in 1973, a grandson, Chris Boyd, and special friend, Gordon F. Poole. Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Jennifer Caskie, Edward S. Estes Jr. and wife Vicki, Deborah Bowman and husband Clark, Joann Hollifield and husband Danny, all of Greensboro, NC, Sonja Boyd and husband Steve of Myrtle Beach, SC; (Deborah and Sonja are twins); grandchildren, Jeffery Caskie, Dawn Rock, Michelle Romano, Stephanie Thornlow, Amanda Estes, Ethan Bowman, Erin Huffines, Kevin Boyd, and her special angel, Michael D. Hollifed who spent every day with his grandmother for the last 34 years; great grandchildren, Zackary Williams, Nicholas Romano, Leah Huffines, Scout Bowman, Vesper Bowman, Oona Bowman, Christina Boyd, Cody Boyd, Matthew Boyd, Dylan Rock, Caden Thornlow, Gabby Boyd, Nathan Boyd and sister, Nellie Poore and brother, Lonnie Barton, both of Middleboro, KY; and her loyal and faithful canine companion “Bina”.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to her two exceptional care givers, Gwen Shough and Sherrie Echols.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 6 until 8 pm at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1201 S. Aycock Street, Greensboro, NC 27403. Burial will be on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 11:00 am at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407.
