

Muriel Dott Register Wilson, 82, died on April 6 at Morningview of Irving Park in Greesboro, N.C. A celebration of her life will be at 2:00pm Saturday, April 12 in the Chapel at First Presbyterian Church where she was a longtime active member and usher. A private family committal will be held at Green Hill Cemetery.
A Greensboro native, Muriel was the daughter of the late Myrtle Magdelene Kessler and Robert Tracy Register, Sr. She graduated from Greensboro Senior High School in 1947 and furthered her education in real estate at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Muriel was one of the first female realtors in Greensboro working for the Richardson Corporation and Yost and Little Realtors with certifications in both GRI and CRS licenses. She had a long and successful career in real estate at a time when there were very few females in the business. Muriel was dedicated to a high level of professionalism and service to her clients. She was active as a former Board member of the Greensboro Realtors Association and served on its Ethics Committee. She was an energetic, vibrant person who enjoyed being of service to others and her community. Aside from her professional career she was a member of the New Irving Park Garden Club, the Greensboro Symphony Guild, the Greensboro Historical Museum, and various other organizations. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed bird watching, nature and travel. Family was of utmost importance to Muriel and along with her faith, her children and grandchildren were her light and strength.
In addition to her parents, Muriel was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years and high school sweetheart, Spurgeon Gilmore Wilson, brother Robert Tracy Register, Jr., and sister, Deloris Horry Fuller.
Muriel is survived by her daughter, Shawn Wilson and husband, Alexander Fletcher Fortune of Greensboro; son, Britton Lee Wilson and wife Pamela Balkcum of Apex, John McCorkle Yount and wife Jennifer of Eden. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren , Fletcher, Wilson and Alexandra Fortune, Matthew, Andrew, and Allison Wilson, Andrea Yount; nephew Frederick Spurgeon (Lisa) Albright and their sons, Jason and Lucas; niece, Pat (Jim) Fuller Blake and their daughter Shannon; nephew, Earl (Sharon) Roberson Fuller III and his daughters Angela and Wendy as well as other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the Blair Hagan Room at First Presbyterian following the service.
The family would especially like to thank the entire staff of Morningview Assisted Living at Irving Park, particularly the Bridge, Rosemarie Gordon, Lakisha, Sheila Ann; as well as Hospice, Debbie Parr and Lynn Duffy for their kind, compassionate and joyful spirit in attentively caring for Muriel these last years. They were a comfort and blessing to us all.
