Nancy was born in High Point to the late Stephen and Myrtle Turner Melton. She graduated Greensboro Senior High School. She retired from Belk in 2001 after 35 years of service.
She was introduced to Henry Jones by his brother, Fred, and he immediately told Fred the day he met her, he was going to marry that girl someday. In 1994, Henry passed way but for more than forty-five years they shared a wonderful life and raised three daughters. Her quiet presence was a balance to Henry’s outgoing personality. They particularly enjoyed sports together and proudly supported the grandchildren at their events. Nancy was a staunch Duke basketball and Carolina Panthers fan. Reading and shopping were two of her favorite past times. She enjoyed the quietness and intimacy of being around her family, especially the grandchildren who looked forward to her pound cakes and chicken and dumplings. Nancy was a woman of great faith and attended Christ Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (William “Buddy) Carter of Pleasant Garden, Sharon McMasters and Patty (Arnold) Thomas both of Greensboro; grandchildren, Andy Carter, Kevin (Nicole) Carter, Scott (Tina) McMasters, Michelle (Jim) Senechal, and Amy Andrews; and great grandchildren, Payton, Ashton, Riley, Madeline and Jackson Carter, Jett and Lily Allen, Lily and Braydon Senechal and Jacob McMasters. In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by her brother, Gordon Melton, sister, Doris Hill and beloved canine companion, Nikki.
