Norma Jean Barham, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 25, 2019. She was born on December 17, 1936 in Guilford County, the daughter of Joseph Thomas and Annie Swanson Brown. She grew up in Guilford County. She loved to grow flowers, play bingo and all activities with her friends and church family. She was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many. She will be deeply missed.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Claude P. Mitchell and brother, Charles T. Brown. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons; Sidney Thomas Mitchell of Greensboro, NC, Joseph Powell Mitchell and son Nicklaus Chase Mitchell, both of Greensboro, NC, Ronald Dale Mitchell and wife Michelle of Sophia, NC; sister, Brenda Ann Dove of Jamestown, NC and brother, Robert Donald Brown; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with burial to follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
