Normand J. Turcotte, 80, of Climax, NC, passed peacefully at home on August 5, 2024 with his loving wife nearby. The son of Normand D. & Laura (Guerin) Turcotte, he was born & raised in central Connecticut where he lived most of his life. After graduation from Bristol Eastern High School, he entered the US Coast Guard & upon discharge began working for the Peck Spring Co. After 39 years he retired as the company's Sales Engineer. He designed various components in the product line, including a spring in the lunar rovers now residing on the moon.
A true New Englander, he enjoyed his Maine lobster, the Boston Red Sox, & driving his Corvette through the colorful fall foliage, “hunting” with his camera for the perfect photo op. Proud of his French heritage, he enjoyed genealogical research & located the island in the St. Lawrence River where his ancestors arrived & still maintain property. Happiest in his home, he welcomed family & friends for tacos & beer or a barbecue on the deck.
Family was important to him & he loved one & all. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara; sons, Todd of Newington, CT, & Scott (Elissa) of Vernon, CT; granddaughters, Charlotte & Elaina Turcotte; his sister, Claire (George) Jameson of Auburn, MA; & multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews. His sister, Joan Robillard, predeceased him.
Final arrangements will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, stjude.org or a wildlife refuge of your choice.
Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel is assisting the Turcotte family with arrangements. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.haneslineberryfhnorthelm.com
