Oran Wayne Aker of McLeansville was born in Wytheville, VA on June 5, 1948 to Virgil and Katherine Aker. He passed away surrounded by family Thursday, May 20th at the age of 72. His earthly life has ended yet we know he is renewed as he enters the presence of Jesus, where he is made complete and whole.
The best writer or poet in the world could not do him justice or sum up what he means to us. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend.
Wayne was best known for his easy-going personality and sense of humor. He loved golf, spending time with his family and friends, and spoiling his grandchildren. We will treasure the time we had with him and carry the love and values he instilled in us throughout our lives.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Ferguson Aker; his children and their spouses, Angie Morgan (David), Wendy Byerly (Billy), Jann Oakes (Monk), Greg Smith (Amy); four grandchildren, Jared, Kayla, Donevan, and Kinny; his sisters and their husbands, Karol Draper (David), and Iris Stonestreet (Wayne); his Aunt Barbara Dean. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends and family at Hanes Lineberry, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd, Greensboro, at one o’clock on Tuesday May 25th with a celebration of life service to follow at two o’clock.
