Mrs. Patty Huff Showalter, 79, passed away Thursday May 16, 2024, her final moments were spent peacefully at home surrounded by family. A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 2:00pm at Rehobeth United Methodist Church with Pastor Joesph Brinkle officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will have a visitation with reception following the service at the church.
Patty was born May 11, 1945 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Charles Emerson Huff and Betty Curmode Huff. She graduated in the class of 1963 from Dublin High School in Dublin, OH. After graduation, she attended nursing school in Washington, D.C. where she met her husband Dale Showalter, they were married on December 7, 1964. She graduated from High Point University in 1995 with a Bachelor's of Science in Industrial & Organizational Psychology. She worked as a manager at the Hotel at Sedgefield Country Club for many years and a receptionist at Microview.
Patty was an active member of Rehobeth Church for years where she served as a Sunday school teacher and served in Stephen Ministries . She was a Cub Scout Leader with Pack 320. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping. She loved traveling and visited 49 of the 50 states. She was a member of the Greensboro Council of Garden Clubs. She was an avid cook, loving to cook and bake for her friends and family. She was a talented seamstress, making outfits for many people.
She was an outgoing person, who loved people. She never knew a stranger and made an impact on many people that she came into contact with. She was a mother and grandmother to many people beyond her own family. She was always willing to help those in need and always had a smile on her face.
She will be lovingly remembered by her family, son William Clay and wife Wendy Brake Showalter and their sons, Jeremiah Clay and wife Faith Garner Showalter, Caleb Michael and wife Meghan Healy Showalter, and Benjamin Luke Showalter and her sister Carol Sue Hankeison and many nephews and great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Sandee Huff Lewis.
