Paul Milton Ray Jr.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 11, 2016, at West minster Gardens Cemetery, 3601 Whitehurst Road, officiated by Rev. Gene Dean.

Paul was born January 24, 1940, in Guilford County to the late Paul Milton Ray, Sr. and Margaret Allen Grimes. He was a graduate of Edwards Military Institute and served his country proudly while in the Air Force. After being honorably discharged, Paul worked as a communications technician at AT&T for 32 years. He enjoyed working on cars and was a Nascar fan. In 2001, he helped his son Paul open a motorcycle shop.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his special cousin, Angelyn Burgess. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rita C. Ray of the home; sons, Paul Ray, III and his girlfriend, Tammy, Jason Allen Ray and his wife, Mary both of Greensboro; grandson, Layne Allen Milton Ray; half-sister, Carolyn Grimes of Greensboro and special cousin, Sylvia O’Kelly of Raleigh.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Saturday at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel, 515 North Elm Street.

Rita and her family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Gentiva Home Health for the care they provided to Paul during his illness.
