Mr. Peter Archie Botzis

A funeral service will be held Friday, December 7, 2012, 2:00 pm, at Hanes Lineberry N. Elm Chapel with Pastor Joe Giaritelli officiating. A graveside service will follow at 4:30 p.m., at Buffalo Cemetery in Sanford, NC.

Pete was born March 31, 1941 in Sanford, the son of the late Gladys Lawrence Botzis and Archie Peter Botzis.

He served in the US Coast Guard before completing his degree in Industrial relations at UNC-Chapel Hill in 1965. His career in the textile industry progressed from working at Greensboro Manufacturing to Creighton Shirt Company in Reidsville, NC where he was the plant manager for many years.

Pete was a devoted father to his three children Krista, Gina and Michael. He enjoyed working in his yard on Saturdays and conversing with the neighbors, yearly family vacations to Ocean Isle Beach, and attending church. He found great pleasure in helping others and in talking about the simple pleasures in life.

In his later years, he pursued researching his Greek ancestry. He fulfilled a life-long dream of visiting his father’s grave at Normandy American Cemetery (“Omaha Beach”), France. He loved spending time with his five grandchildren and always wanted to buy them treats.

Surviving are his daughters, Krista Brady and her two daughters, Mercer and Mahlon and Gina Botzis, all of Greensboro; son, Michael Botzis and wife Fran and their three sons, Benjamin, Harrison and Alexander of Raleigh; and the mother of his three children, Jean Botzis.

Friends will be received from 1 to 2 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
