Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel, with Pastors Rusty Parsons and Mark Shelley officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Gardens Cemetery.
Born October 3, 1932 in Suffolk, VA, to the late Henry Vincent Moger and Lillian Marion Rhodes, Phyllis was a member of Centre Friends Meeting. After growing up in Crittenden, VA, and Elizabeth City, NC, Phyllis attended Women’s College, until she met a merchant marine, Ed Osborne, and fell in love. They made a strong couple: whether running a service station, selling travel trailers, renting apartments, gardening, or making picture frames, they worked side by side, each complementing the other. After Ed’s retirement, Phyllis became a tax preparer at H&R Block. She loved reading, playing Scrabble, doing jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with friends and family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Esther, and a brother, Vincent. Her husband of 58 years, Raymond Edward Osborne, passed away six months ago.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Carol; brother-in-law, Harold and his wife Corrina; sisters-in-law, Thelma Osborne; Sally Johansen; Hazel Younger and her husband Bill; and Inez Paschal and her husband Ronnie; and a large caring family of nieces, nephews, and their children.
The family wishes to extend their special gratitude to all the people in Pleasant Garden, Greensboro, and Surfside Beach, SC, who have been so supportive of both Phyllis and Ed, especially during the last few years.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 pm Friday, March 2, 2012, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Centre Friends Meeting, 325 NC 62 East, Greensboro, NC 27406 or to the American Lung Association.
