

Funeral Service will be on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at McLeansville Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow in Lakeview Memorial Park.
Nila was born in Wilkes County, NC to Carl and Leria Souther. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Nila graduated from Piedmont Bible College in 1973 and earned a certificate in Biblical Studies from Liberty University in 1996.
Nila pastored Community Chapel Baptist Church for 25 years before retiring from full time ministry. For the last 18 years he has been the Minister of Visitation at McLeansville Baptist Church and will be remembered for his radio broadcast and his love of senior citizens and children. One of his favorite sayings on the radio was “pull up your chair, warm up your coffee and let’s worship together”.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Moses Cone Neuro unit for their service and help during Dad’s illness and to the family and friends for their prayers, visits, and gifts.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Souther, his son Michael Souther, daughters Sherry Phillips and Barbara Filazzola, and their spouses, along with 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters Blanche Chambers and Pauline Brame.
Visitation Service will be on Friday, July 8, 2016, at McLeansville Baptist Church from 6-9 p.m.
