Richard Jefferson Bentley, 79, of Jamestown, passed away on May 25 @ Hospice Home of High Point after a longtime illness. He was born March 3, 1935 in Mooresville, NC to the late Samuel Marion Jefferson Bentley and Luda Kerley Bentley. He moved to Jamestown in 1975 and was a longtime member of Jamestown Presbyterian Church, serving as Deacon, Assistant Treasurer, Junior High Leader, Sunday School Teacher and was on several committees. He was a devoted brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was a proud veteran. He was preceded in death by his sister, Laura Frances Wyatt.
He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Barbara Hilton Bentley of Jamestown; daughter, Cindy Bentley Danieley and husband Jim of Greensboro; son, Mark J. Bentley, Sr. of Jamestown; grandson, Mark Jr. of Jamestown; and great-grandson, Noah of Jamestown.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Timothy Mullins of Piedmont Urological for his many years of wonderful care, compassion and friendship.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Jamestown Presbyterian Church conducted by Reverend Newton Cowan. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
