Family visitation will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Road, Greensboro.
A funeral service honoring his life will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2013 at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 1304 Merritt Drive, Greensboro, with Reverend Mike Collins, Dr. Vernon Farrington and Reverend Bob Voorhees officiating. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park, Greensboro. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Mann, Mark Mann, Josh Mann, Justin Stagner, Jim Bilbro and Chuck Barham.
Bob was born on September 15, 1927, in Guilford County, the son of the late Walter Larmond Bilbro, Sr. and Mary Swaim Bilbro. A life long resident of Greensboro, he was a member of West End Methodist Church and
was a charter member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. Through the
years, he served on the Administrative Board, Ushering Team, and a member of the St. John’s United Methodist Men. Following graduation in 1947 from Greensboro Senior High School, he went to work for Cone Mills,
working as Assistant Manager and then as Manager of the Sample Department. Following many years of loyal service with Cone, Bob retired in 1989.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 63 years of marriage, Marie Barham Bilbro of the home; his wonderful children: two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lou Farrington and husband Vernon, Barbara Mann and husband Alex, and son Rob Bilbro and partner Stuart Brock; special grandchildren, Brian Rai Mann and wife Carley, Mark Alexander Mann and wife Emily, Joshua Lee Mann and wife Kari, Lauren Marie Stagner and husband Justin, Amanda Kathleen Farrington, and his precious Great Granddaughters, Avery Claire Mann, London Rai Mann, Caroline Marie Mann and Lillian Grace Mann and soon to be born Katherine Rai Mann. He was very affectionately called “Paw-Paw” by his Grandchildren and his Great Granddaughters. He is also survived by a brother, William R. Bilbro and wife Estelle and
sister, Anne Bilbro Wright and husband Doug, his brother-in-law, Edward Barham and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was a very loving and dedicated husband, father, Paw-Paw, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. His family was very important and dear to him. He will truly be missed by all of his loved ones, who will always hold dear his memories in their hearts.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred S. Ewing, two brothers, W. L. Bilbro, Jr. and Charles H. Bilbro and nephew, Walter Mark Bilbro.
The family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Bensimhon and Heather of LeBauer Cardiology Congestive Heart Failure Clinic for the many acts of kindness and care that was given to Bob over the years. Dr. Bensimhon was not only Bob’s cardiologist, but also a dear and trusted friend. Special thanks for all the loving care provided by Danielle, Portia, Barbara and Sharon at The Friends Home at Guilford Whittier Nursing Center and to Hospice, especially the loving care provided by Kimberly, Monisha, Fatu and Nancy
