Robert Odell Hyatt

Robert Odell Hyatt, 89, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Moses Cone Hospital. He was born on August 22, 1929 in Surry County, NC, the son of Jessie C. and Laura Stone Hyatt. Robert served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with the Greensboro Hilton Hotel.

Robert loved to play both baseball and softball. He played on his church team well into his sixties. He also enjoyed fishing. His family always came first. He looked forward to time he could spend with his grandchildren. Robert’s church family was a very important part of his life. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He will be deeply missed.

Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary C. Hyatt in 2016; two sisters and four brothers. Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Cynthia Hyatt of Greensboro, NC, Bobby Garland Madison of Douglasville, GA; brother, Paul Thurman Hyatt of Greensboro, NC; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, 3:00 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Burial with full military honors will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
