Robert Joseph “Rob” Jacobs, 71, of Greensboro, NC, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. A former attorney who found his true calling in beekeeping, Rob served as president of the Guilford County Beekeepers Association and was a beloved mentor to countless local beekeepers. After taking a beginner course in 2007, Rob quickly became a fixture in the community—teaching classes, leading outreach events, and helping others start and care for their hives. He often joked that he’d caught a case of “bee fever” that pulled him away from law and deeper into the hive, eventually forwarding office calls to his cell in case a swarm needed catching. Known for his deep knowledge of bee biology, his gentle nature, and his sense of humor, Rob had a gift for making even the most technical bee talk feel inviting.
Though soft-spoken, Rob left a lasting mark on Greensboro’s community. Friends and students remember him as the calm presence at the heart of the group—always available to help, teach, and encourage. His legacy lives on in the buzzing hives around Guilford County and in the knowledge and care he shared so freely. He will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered in every jar of honey and every first-time beekeeper he helped into a suit.
