
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 at Alamance Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Robert was born on July 6, 1920 in Surry County to the late John Nat and Mary Ann Allen Jones. He served as a Navy Ships Serviceman in WWII. He worked as a meat cutter for A&P in Detroit, Michigan before moving to Greensboro where he was the owner and operator of “Bob Jones Sandwich Bar”, the Captain’s Lounge and the Golden Gate Lounge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Loew Jones; brothers, Bernard, Henry and Fred Jones.
Robert is survived by his daughter Marianne Harris and husband Kenneth of Palm Coast Florida; grandchildren, CJ Woody and wife Jennifer, of Greensboro, Christina Woody of Brooklyn, New York, and Kaitlin Harris of Palm Coast, Florida; Great grandchildren, Leah and Ayden Woody of Greensboro, brother, William Jones of Pleasant Garden, sisters, Mae Reitzel of Pleasant Garden and Carrie Hobbs of Greensboro.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
The family will receive friends in the Church Library following the service.
