Lloyd's memorial service will be at 1 PM on Tuesday, November 7, at First Lutheran Church, 3600 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC 27410 officiated by Pastor Jay Hilbinger. The family will receive friends following the service.
Lloyd was born in Washington, DC on August 5, 1928, to the late Elizabeth Stevens and Hoke Ray Bostian. He lived in Greensboro, NC since 1932, and graduated from Greensboro (Grimsley) High School and Guilford College.
Lloyd was proud of his 40 years of employment at 1st Home Federal of Greensboro. In addition, he was a graduate of The Savings and Loan Graduate School at Indiana University. Lloyd loved his co-workers and had a kind word and hug for everyone.
Lloyd was a long-time member of First Lutheran Church. He was a Sunday School teacher of youth and adults, Sunday School Superintendent, served on the Church Council, and was a regular Bible Study student.
In his earlier years, he also enjoyed affiliations and volunteer activities with the Adult Center for Enrichment, Greensboro Urban Ministry and Habitat for Humanity as well as being a volunteer math tutor at Gillespie Elementary School.
He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army as a mortar platoon leader during the Korean Conflict. He received the Korean Service Medal, US Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He continued his military career through the reserves for eight additional years.
Lloyd was very civic minded which led him to join Crescent Rotary Club where he volunteered to serve as the amateur photographer to record all club activities. In addition, he took pictures at the Habitat houses built by First Lutheran Church and presented the families with a photo album and DVD depicting the build from foundation to dedication.
In addition to his parents, Lloyd was predeceased by brothers, Charles and Ray Bostian, and sister Beverly B. Reynolds. He is survived by nephews, Stephen R. Bostian (Lin) and Jonathan R. Bostian (Michelle) of Greensboro, NC; Robert Joseph Reynolds, III of Gastonia, NC and Charles Andrew Reynolds (Dawn) of Lake Wylie, SC. Uncle Lloyd was loved by the children and grandchildren of his nephews who lovingly called him Grandpa Lloyd.
