Robert Norman Powell

Bob went home to be with the Lord on January 20, 2013 at Moses H. Cone Hospital after a brief illness.

Bob served in the US Army for eight years. He worked in cafeteria management with P & G, Sears, Gilbarco and Exclamation Catering. After his retirement he was a caregiver for Home Instead Senior Care for 11 yrs.

Bob and Cathy have been local distributors of Shaklee Health Products for the past 35 years. Bob was an avid golfer, fondly known as ‘Bogey Bob’ by his golfing buddies. Bob possessed a quiet and caring strength plus a great sense of humor.

He was a member and actively involved with CrossPoint Baptist Church and always there for others whenever and whatever the need.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Robert Norman Powell, Jr., his parents, George and Edna, brother, George, Jr., sisters Sarah and Ruthie Powell.

Survivors include, his wife of 36 yrs., Cathy [his Angel], sister Carol Bailey and Gracie Veronee, son, Ron Powell and wife Pam, step son, Jim McIntosh, nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A Service to Celebrate Bob’s life will be held Saturday, January 26th, 2:00 pm at CrossPoint Baptist Church, 1806 Merritt Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407 with Pastor Terry Smith officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
