Robert was born on Aug. 6, 1930 in Iredell County, NC. After his service in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, he moved to Randolph County. He worked with Hatteras Yacht and then with Midland Delivery until his retirement.
Robert was a member of Whispering Hope Baptist Church where he often drove the church van to bring members to services. He was an avid gardener and took great pride in his flowers.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Shirley H. Sherrill; sons, David Sherrill and wife Barbara of Randleman, NC and Robert Eugene Sherrill Jr. and wife Brenda of Archdale, NC and daughter, Ada Louise Logan and husband Kent of Sophia, NC; loving sister-in-law, Lib Thompson of Jamestown, NC; grandchildren; Brenda Gail Sherrill and Brian of Sophia, NC, Johnny Lee Hyatt, Jeff Hyatt, Lisa Lang, and Chris Myrick and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved and always enjoyed sharing fond memories.
Services to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, 3:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with Rev. Jeff Morgan officiating. Burial will full military honors will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel
