

GREENSBORO - Robert Maurice “R.M.” Taylor, 76, went to his heavenly home on October 5, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Lumberton, N.C. on August 1, 1935 and was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Penelope “Nellie” Taylor and a younger brother, A.J. Taylor.
Robert loved singing gospel music with his family, eating seafood, and spending time at his beach home with friends. His favorite pastimes were fishing, working in his shop, and riding his little dog on the golf cart. He retired from Industrial Air, Inc. after 45 years of employment as a field superintendent. He served as a member and advisor on the Lynwood Lakes Community Board (Lynco Club) up until his death. He enjoyed participating in area Lions Club barbeques as a volunteer.
Survivors are his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara Freeman Taylor; three children and their spouses, J.R. and Debra Taylor Hasty of Monroe, N.C., Jack and Ann Taylor Yarborough of Rockingham, N.C., Robert and Kim Taylor, Jr. of Stokesdale, N.C.; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Brooks and Ana Hasty, Justin Kyle Hasty, Trey and Erin Yarborough McNair, Heather Yarborough, Nathan Yarborough, Daniel Taylor, Michael Taylor, and Matthew Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Christian and Bella Hasty; ten brothers and sisters, Laura Mae Turner, Martin Taylor, Martha Lee Lawson, W.M. Taylor, Mary Lou Vendrick, Nellie Mae Richardson, Howard Earl Taylor, and Kenneth Taylor of Robeson County, N.C., Evelyn Kalal of Conway, S.C., and Juneal Smith of Rockingham, N.C..
The family will receive friends at Calvary Church, 1665 Pleasant Ridge Road, Greensboro, NC 27409 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2011. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Guilford Memorial Park, 6000 High Point Road, Greensboro, NC 27407
