Rochelle "Shelly" Young

Shelly was born on May 2, 1947 to Louis and Lillian Gold in the Bronx, New York, and after graduating from William Howard Taft High School, she married and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. She eventually moved to Greensboro, North Carolina to be closer to family and traveled to New York regularly to visit friends.

Shelly served as a nanny, caretaker, and dog-sitter for many years. She had an unmistakable sense of humor but also an empathetic ear. She enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays with friends and family. She loved to bowl and was a member of several leagues in New York, Las Vegas, and Greensboro. She was a skilled card player and frequent bingo player.

Shelly is preceded in death by her parents and aunts and is survived by her brother Bernard Gold (Lorraine) of Greensboro, NC, her cousin Joanne Gold DeMaria (Ron) of Rock Hill, SC, her nieces Lindsay Gold (Dante Walker) of Woodland Hills, CA and Wendy Gold (Patrick Sams) of Gibsonville, NC, her “grand-nephew” Jonah Sams and "grand-niece" Maddie Sams.

The family will receive friends for Shelly, Sunday February, 18, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services – Greensboro, 1900 Vanstory St, Greensboro, North Carolina 27403, followed by a memorial service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.
