Doug loved sports and watching sports on television. After graduating from Ben L. Smith High School in 1972, he volunteered at Glenwood Community Center coaching football. He learned his love was coaching Little League Baseball, especially when his son became of age to play. He coached youth athletics for 32 years before stepping away. After his son graduated from high school, Doug continued to run the clock for 25 years at Southwest Guilford High School for the Football Program and he loved every minute. During his free time, he played golf with his buddies and spent countless hours at the beach talking with friends, playing golf, listening and singing to beach music and riding in the golf cart around the campground with his dogs, Puddin’ or Fancy. His life was enriched by his family, friends, and the love for his animals. He was a treasure and so loved by many.
