Rolla Thacker Bowman Williams

Rolla "Roni" Thacker Bowman Williams, age 93, of Greensboro, North Carolina passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022. Rolla Thacker Bowman was born on March 11, 1929 in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late William and Stella Thacker.

A visitation for Rolla Thacker Bowman will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, North Carolina 27407. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, North Carolina 27407.

Roni moved to Greensboro at the age of 17 and worked for Greensboro City Club, Greensboro Country Club and Sedgefield Country Club. She married James "Jimmy" Eugene Bowman in 1946 and they were blessed with three children. They enjoyed their lives together until he passed away in 1993. In 1998, Roni married Metra "Met" Warren Williams which she considered this to be her "2nd Life". They traveled all across the country seeing the sights, taking photos and taking the opportunity to meet up with friends and family along the way. Roni and Met retired to Whitestone, A Masonic and Eastern Star Community. She was well known in the Whitestone community due to fact that she enjoyed taking daily walks throughout the community and visiting with all those she met along the way. Roni was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, James E. Bowman, Jr. and 10 siblings.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Teresa (Terry) Cybrynski and Carla Jean Ayers and husband, David; sister, Merl Riddle and husband Charles; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and other extended family and friends.
