Sarah M. Reynolds Grayson

Sarah M. Grayson, 94, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at Moses Cone Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 3:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with Pastor Charlie Zimmerman officiating. Entombment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.

Sarah was born on Oct. 3, 1917 in Cleveland County, NC, the daughter of C.S. “Bud” and Lillie Eaker Reynolds. She worked as a bookkeeper with Sears until her retirement. She has been a member of First Lutheran Church since she moved to Greensboro. Sarah was a member of the Odd Fellows, Myrtle Rebekah Lodge #51 Sorority, and the Y Matrons. Over the years, she held various offices in all of the organizations.

Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Harry B. Grayson in 1989 and her son Bobby L. Grayson and six brothers; Pat, Thomas, Roy, Floyd, James and Carl Reynolds. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons; William “Bill” Grayson and wife Gail and Tommy Grayson; daughter-in-law, Inga Grayson; sister, Colleen Tate and husband Fred of Kings Mountain, NC; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church Building Fund, 3600 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC 27408 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
