Scott Duncan Shearin peacefully transitioned to his eternal home on May 19, 2021, following a series of challenges after a tragic fall on October 12, 2020, that left him paralyzed. His resilience, despite so many setbacks, is a testament of how he lived his life as his faith in God was never questioned.
Scott was born on May 6, 1969 in Greensboro, NC to Caroline E. & Robert H. Shearin. He graduated from Walter Hines Page High School in 1987 and later enlisted in the Marine Corp. He lived in various parts of North Carolina his entire life, most recently in Chapel Hill, NC with his best friend, Eric Nesman, and their adopted rescue cat, Buddy. Scott and Eric were brothers in Christ and regularly attended church at Calvary Chapel under Pastor David Marini. They shared an adoration for movies, music, animals, great food & fellowship.
Scott was a huge fan of music and was blessed with an amazing voice that he shared with so many people at churches, at weddings and as a soloist for the Celebration Singers. His favorite song, “Beulah Land,” summarized his faith, as heaven has been his long-time dream on earth. Scott was known for his talent and unique ability to impersonate many famous people. Scott’s most favorite job was being “Uncle Buck” to his niece and nephews and a beloved brother and son to his family.
Scott had an exceptional ability to shine his bright light on so many people, bringing joy to others through his genuine authenticity and fresh perspective to life as he wholeheartedly welcomed every day that he was given by God. Scott was truly an ambassador of gratitude, kindness, humility, compassion, forgiveness and grace. May we all aspire to live our lives exactly as he did. Well done thou true and faithful servant!
Scott is survived by his parents, Carol & Bob, his brother Brad & wife Kendra, his sister Katie & Jeff, and his niece and nephews Lauren, Matthew & Hunter.
