

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon Faye Gardner Key, who left us on January 10th at the age of 77. She was born on January 7th, 1948, and grew up in Jamestown, NC. Sharon was a beloved wife, sister, aunt, stepmother, step-grandmother, and friend to many. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Kenny Ray Key of McLeansville; three brothers: Terry Gardner of High Point, Scott Gardner (Sheila) of the Philippines, Danny Gardner (Dawn) of Greensboro; nieces and nephews: Tami Raynor, Danny Gardner Jr (Cameron), Jennifer Gardner (Josh), and Joseph Gardner (Madalyn); children-by-marriage: Scott (Priscilla), Heather, Dale, and Todd; grandchildren-by-marriage: Alex, Keyton, and Nick; and many adored great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Allen Gardner and Marie Edna Lochner.
Sharon was known for her caring and generous nature and for being an inspiration to others. She loved playing music, growing beautiful flowers, and spending time with family. Her passion was photography, and she received many awards for her pictures over the years. She worked as a pharmacy tech at Wesley Long Hospital for over 35 years. She loved many animals, especially horses. She and her husband Kenny enjoyed riding horses, traveling to see new places, and spending time at the lake. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all.
A Funeral Service celebrating Sharon's life will be held on Friday, January 17th at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., followed by the service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
