Mrs. Sue Stafford

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 31, 2018, at First Baptist Church Chapel, 1000 West Friendly Avenue, with Dr. Alan Sherouse officiating.

Sue was born in Pleasant Garden, NC, daughter of the late Grady and Vermel Edwards. She graduated from Sumner High School and Baptist Nursing School. Sue was a devoted wife to Dr. W. R. Stafford, Jr., mother and grandmother who loved gardening and entertaining. Being an RN, she was a natural caregiver. She was a generous and caring person and wanted to help those in need. In their 42 years of marriage, Bill and Sue loved sharing wonderful meals with their close group of friends and dancing the night away at many functions.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stafford was preceded in death by her husband, W.R. “Bill” Stafford, Jr. and brothers, Boyd and Colon Edwards. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Fording and fiancé, Paul Young; step-sons, W.R. Stafford, III and wife, Jan, Richard E. Stafford and wife, Marion; grandchildren, Madalyn Fording; step-grandchildren, Katie Stafford Carbone and husband, Tommy, Richard Stafford, Tyler Cecil, Grace Stafford; step-great grandchildren, Strayer and Sophie Carbone; brother, Dan Edwards and sisters, Doris Dillon and Laura Jane Winters.

The family will visit with guests following the service in the parlor.
