Terry was born in Winston Salem, the son of Raymond and Kathleen Pitts. He retired from Tyco Electronics after 27 years of employment in 2006 as a product designer. He received recognition in 2002 from Tyco with a Ten Patent Award.
Terry was caring, giving, funny and a hard worker despite being a polio survivor since the age of 6 and being disabled. He loved to read westerns and mystery books, and watch John Wayne movies. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Carolina Tar Heels fan.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents and brother Joseph H. Pitts. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Nancy "Cricket" Wrightson Pitts and his son Adam Hobson Pitts of Winston Salem and his canine companion, Doobie.
