Tommy graduated from Grimsley High School and attended Appalachian State University. He loved his time in the US Navy between 1976-1980 onboard the USS Caron as an electronic technician.
He is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Laura Real McAdams; daughter, Kristi and husband Josh Strickler and their children Carsyn, Callie and Brynn Strickler; daughter, Megan McAdams and her children Taylor Summerlin and Natalie McAdams; son, T. A. McAdams; and daughter Jenny and husband Mario Month and their children Kohen and Silas Month; his sisters Janis and Marc Bush and Julie and Johnny Dorn. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be on Monday, August 25 at 2:00 PM in the chapel at Christ United Methodist Church. A reception will follow the service.
