

Thomas Eugene “Gene” Paruscio Sr (88) passed away on Tuesday February 10, 2026. He was under hospice care at his residence in Shannon Gray Rehab facility in Jamestown, NC. Thomas was born in Kanawha County, WV on June 24, 1937, to the late Giovanni Paruscio and Lydia Pettry. He was a proud USAF Veteran of 23 years having served in Vietnam in 1969-1970. Thomas served tours throughout the Pacific Ocean during the 1960’s spending time in Korea, Guam, Christmas Island and Hawaii. Thomas and his family traveled extensively throughout the United States during his career. After his military retirement in 1979, Thomas worked at Bridgestone / Firestone Manufacturing plant in Wilson, NC for 23 years. Thomas was a proud Vietnam veteran and appreciated all those that acknowledged it. He was seldom seen without his veteran’s hat on. He was an accomplished mechanic and enjoyed working on his own vehicles. He enjoyed being socially active with everyone and loved to tell stories about his time in the USAF. Thomas loved history stories, shows and movies. He loved to use his metal detector and look for hidden treasures. He dug for and collected old bottles encompassing a collection of over 1200 bottles.
Thomas was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Linda Lee Cobb Paruscio, brother John and sisters Augusta, Marie and Guineth.
He is survived by sons Thomas Paruscio Jr (wife Denise) of Jamestown, NC and Mark Paruscio (wife Ann) of High Point, NC. Grandchildren Jordan Paruscio (wife Jaime) of Summerfield, NC, Ashley Shafer (husband Kyle) of Randleman, NC, Seth Paruscio of High Point, NC and Great-grandson Carter Shafer also of Randleman.
