Vada T. Austin

Vada T. Austin passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018 to join and serve her Lord and Redeemer Jesus Christ forever. She was born on August 25, 1925, in Fayetteville, NC to D.W. Tart and Julia Vada West Tart of Roseboro, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2018, at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church, 4800 West Friendly Avenue. Interment will follow at Westminster Gardens Cemetery, 3601 Whitehurst Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Vada graduated from Roseboro High School and attended Wheaton College, Wheaton Illinois, where she majored in piano and voice. There she met Don C. Austin of Charlotte, NC and they married on August 25, 1943.

Vada had a great love of the Scripture and taught Sunday School, both children and adults, for 50 years. She was a longtime and until her health declined, active member of Friendly Avenue Baptist Church in Greensboro, where she served in various ways.

Vada was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Don Charlton Austin, and her son, Don W. Austin. She is survived by her daughter, Hallie Wilson (Harry); son, Charlton Austin (Ann); daughter, Vada Harris; daughter-in-law, Barbara Gill as well as grandchildren Ashley Fitzsimmons, Clay and Charlton Wilson, Vada Caroline Dicey, Kathleen Messick, and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her lifelong dear friend Katie Morgan of Lillington.
