She was born in Smyth County Virginia on May 6, 1926, a daughter of the late Basil Arnold and Alice Gertrude Wann Arnold. She was of the Christian faith and married Earl J. Arnold and they lived in Washington County, Virginia until his death when she moved to Guilford County, North Carolina, with her five young children. She worked most of her life as a homemaker caring for her family. One of her biggest joys in life was cooking and baking for her precious family who she loved very much.
Violet is predeceased by husband, Maurice Bass; daughter, Sylvia Parker; sons, John B. Arnold and David E. Arnold and grandson David C. Arnold. She is survived by her daughter, Christine Hasty; son, Daniel Arnold (Wenda); grandchildren, Tim Amick (Sarah), Cheryl Whitley (Judd), Angela Steele (Daniel), Shannon French (Craig), John Arnold (Carrie), Erin Arnold, Annette Parker, Kimberly Parker, and Jennifer Phelps and 19 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be 11:00 am Friday May 9, 2025, at Guilford Memorial Park, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC. There will be no visitation.
