

Funeral services will be held at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Afterwards, the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall.
Jack was born June 22, 1926 in Gibsonville to the late James and Maude Walker. He was a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church where he once served on the Board of Trustees and was past President of the Methodist Men’s Organization. Jack served in the United States Navy during World War II and was proud of his patriotism. He worked for Central Motors as a Warehouseman and then for Golden States Foods as a Quality Control Operator. Jack was a former Boy Scout Master in Greensboro, a Greensboro Urban Ministries Volunteer, and a Senior Shop Steward with Teamster Local Union #391. He loved sports, mostly NASCAR and baseball. Jack was an avid Yankee’s fan and back in his younger years he had the opportunity to play some minor league baseball. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Simmons, Marion Plaeger, and Peggy Barker; and brothers, Douglas and Vestel Walker.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 65 years, Emily Field Walker of the home; son, Donald Brooks Walker and wife Rosie Chaves of Florida; daughter, Karla Frank and husband Jeff of McLeansville; four grandchildren, Devon Walker, Bryson Walker, David Frank, and Lindsay Frank; and several nieces and nephews.
