Williams Flord Washington

Williams Flord Washington, 70, of Greensboro passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024. Born on June 6, 1954, in Memphis, he was the son of the late Mary Washington. Williams was raised by the late Leroy Hobson.

He worked for First Presbyterian Church as a custodian. The church and preschool staff as well as the children in the preschool loved Williams. He always had a way with children as Park Avenue Childcare Center was his initial hub, along with his wife, to pour into the lives of many little people. He has a servant’s heart and enjoyed helping others. For over a decade he could be seen in action at the Greensboro Country Club as a banquet server. His kindness and humbleness were seen by everyone who know Williams. On his personal time, he could be found at Downtown Park enjoying the sights and sounds of music and fellowship. Williams had an infectious laugh that touched the hearts of everyone, and he loved to cook. He loved spending time with his grandson, Helaire Levann “Biggie” James who attends First Presbyterian Preschool.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Blount Washington and two brothers, Ricky “Cadillac” Hobson and Fred Hobson.

Williams is survived by his son, Williams Washington, Jr. “Junior”; his daughter, Tierney James; two grandsons, Williams Washington, III “Third” and Helaire Levann James “Biggie”; brother, Tony Hobson “Helicopter”; sister, Beverly Greene “VelmaJean”; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. He is also survived by a special friend, Gwendolyn.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church.
