Elbert Bert L. Green

Elbert “Bert” Green, 91 of Greensburg, passed away on Tuesday, May28, 2013, at the Arbor Grove Nursing Home in Greensburg. Bert was born on August 18, 1921 in Jefferson County, Indiana, the son of Harvey and Carrie Green. After the death of his first wife, Elwanda Garland-Green, Bert married Suzanne McLaughlin on November 17, 1973, and she survives.

Bert worked at Cosco Business Furniture until 1976 and then as a supervisor at Delta Faucet until his retirement in 1987. He was member of Greensburg Mason’s, Scottish Rights Valley of Indianapolis, Elks, Murat Shriners, and the First Baptist Church of Greensburg.

Survivors include his wife Suzanne, Son – Richard Green of Murfreesboro, TN; Daughters – Deena (Bruce) Hamer of Greensburg, , and Step Daughter - Linda (Ted) White of Greensburg; Grandchildren - Melissa Hamer, Suzanne Jones, Sarah (Shawn) Green, and Karrie (Joe) Zuccarello; Great Grandchildren – Noah Rauscher and Ava Jones. Bert was preceded in death by his first wife Elwanda, his parents, his sister Thelma King, and his two brothers Harold and Charles Green.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 1 from 10AM until the time of the funeral service 12PM all at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus. Memorial Contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Eastern Indiana.
