

Robert “Bill” William Barnes, 69, passed away on Thursday, April 06, 2017, at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital. Bill was born on February 3, 1948 in Shelbyville, the son of Robert Barnes and Alene (Whited) Colestock. Bill married H. Kay Owens on April 29, 1972 in Greensburg and she survives.
Other survivors include his daughter Christa (Darren) Barker of Greensburg, his sister Susie Fleming of Greensburg, five grandchildren – Brooklynn Barnes, Alyssa Barnes, Brayden Barker, Bryce Barker and Ethan Barnes and two nephews – Scott (Janet) Baker and JJ Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Chad Barnes and his brother Ronald Barnes.
Bill worked for 14 years at K. S. Bearings until it closed and then went to work as a janitor at the Greensburg High School for six years until he retired. He was a member of the First Church of God. Bill loved to cook, golfing and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and collecting and shooting guns.
Funeral services will begin at 5PM on Monday, April 10, 2017 at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will follow the funeral service on Monday from 6PM – 8PM also at the funeral home.
