Roger L. Cash

Roger L. Cash, 64, of Greensburg passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital. Roger was born September 15, 1950 in New Market, Indiana, the son of Wallace and Lois Cash. In 1972, Roger graduated from Indiana State University with his Bachelor’s Degree in Math and Physical Education; he then continued his schooling and in 1977 he graduated from Indiana University with his Master’s Degree in Education.

On May 28, 1982, Roger married Ruth Petersen in Greensburg and she survives. Roger worked as a School teacher and coach for the Greensburg Community High School for 40 years until his retirement in 2012. He taught Algebra and Geometry and served as an assistant football coach, an assistant baseball coach and eventually head coach of baseball. Roger loved teaching and his students Even after his retirement he went back to substitute teach from time to time.

Survivors include his wife Ruth, his father Wallace Cash of Crawfordsville, IN, and three brothers Joe Cash of Richwood, OH, and Bob and Tony (Jan) Cash of Crawfordsville, IN. He was preceded in death by his mother.

A public memorial visitation will be held from 1PM – 5 PM Sunday, September 28, 2014, at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home to remember and honor Roger’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the DCMH Hospital Foundation with Cancer Care Campaign in the memo line.
