

Ruth Marie Adams Schroeder, 91, of Greensburg passed away on December 12, 2015 at Heritage House. Born November 23, 1924 in Decatur County, she was the daughter of Leslie Earl and Bertha Springmier Cox. She married Thomas Herbert Adams October 4, 1944 in San Luis Obispo California. He preceded her in death May 8, 1978. She married Lawrence E. Schroeder November 14, 1997. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2014. She was a beautician for 55 years, retiring April 1999. She was employed at Leona’s Beauty Salon in Greensburg before owning her own shop in February of 1966. She was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist, Hairdresser’s Affiliate #58. She grew up on the Turner Farm at Sandusky where her Mother was a housekeeper. She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1943 and Royal Beauty School, Indianapolis in 1944. She enjoyed flowers gardening cooking, crocheting, knitting, and sewing.
She is survived by: Sons- Thomas R. Adams (and Rhonda Adams) of Shelbyville, Robert K. (and Jane) Adams of Milroy, James E. Adams (and Vetta Adams-LeMaster) of Clarksville; Stepson- Ronald (and Jenell) Schroeder of Greensburg; Grandchildren- Brian, Ryan, Nick, Kip, Sam, Jade, and Haley Adams; 13 Great Grandchildren. Besides her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by her brothers Lawrence and Richard Cox.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service 1:00 pm. Rev. PT Wilson will be officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Our Hospice of Decatur County.
