

Stanley Leroy Lemmons, 84, of Greensburg passed away on August 3, 2016. He was born on July 19, 1932, in Decatur County, the son of Forrest and Rosa (Clem) Lemmons. Stan was a 1950 graduate of St. Paul High School.
He proudly served the United States Navy as an electronics technician from 1954-1956 and enjoyed attending reunions of his ship, the USS William R. Rush, held in different cities every two years.
On June 19, 1960 he married Betty (Hart) Lemmons at the New Point Christian Church, and she survives.
He was an active member of the Star Baptist Church. Over the years he taught Sunday School classes, was a trustee, Sunday School Supt., and served on the Board of Deacons, several years as Chairman.
Stan was a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge 56 years, and was a Past Master.
In 1994, Stan retired from PSI Energy (now Duke Energy) as a line working- foreman after 41 years with the company.
Before moving to Greensburg in 2003, they lived in Adams where he served on the Adams Township Volunteer Fire Department, many years as Chief.
Stan loved to travel. He and Betty had vacationed in all 50 states. His favorites were Arizona and Alaska.
Survivors include: Wife- Betty Lemmons; Son- David (Sophia) Lemmons of Martinez, CA; Daughter-in-law- Robin Lemmons of Greenwood, IN; Sister- Alice Irene Bullard of Osgood, IN; Grandchildren- Kyle Lemmons, Grant (Holly) Lemmons, Blake Lemmons, and Craig Lemmons; Sister –in-law- Jeanette Lemmons of St. Paul, IN; and many nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Son- Matthew Lemmons; Sisters- Betty Fern Flaugher, Ruby Byers, Vera Kulpinski; and Brother- Riley Lemmons.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Star Baptist Church on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 11:00 am. Rev. Tom True will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Church Cemetery with Military Honors.
