Glenna L. Reigelsperger, age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at Wayne Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on July 6, 1939, in Van Wert, Ohio, to the late Joseph and Myrtle Strick.
Throughout her life, Glenna found deep joy in caring for others, especially her family and animals. She was a devoted animal lover who always had a little dog by her side, often several in the house at once. Later in life, she also welcomed cats into her home, extending the same fierce love and care to them as well.
That same warmth and enthusiasm carried into how Glenna celebrated life, particularly during the holidays. Christmas and Halloween were her favorites, and she delighted in decorating her home for each season. By early October, “Monster Mash” could be heard playing down the block, signaling that Halloween had arrived. She especially loved hosting family trick-or-treat at her home on Bobolink Place in Northridge, Ohio, creating traditions that were cherished year after year.
When she wasn’t decorating or hosting, Glenna could often be found outdoors camping or in her garden. She spent countless hours tending to her tomatoes, peppers, and other vegetables, and she took equal pride in her flower beds, especially those blooming in shades of pink. Indoors, her creativity continued to shine through her remarkable talent as a seamstress. Glenna could make nearly anything, from curtains and bell-bottom jeans to prom dresses, and she loved letting her children help design their own pieces by choosing styles and fabrics.
In keeping with her creative and resourceful spirit, Glenna eagerly awaited garage sale season. She enjoyed searching for hidden treasures and was well known for her skill at negotiating a fair price. Yet, of all her hobbies, nothing brought her more joy than spending time with family and friends around a card table. She taught many of her children and grandchildren to play cribbage and Skip-Bo and was a relentless poker player, happily winning pennies without mercy. Family members fondly recall the old butter tubs labeled with names and filled with pennies, ready for Glenna to claim during game night. On the rare occasions she was bested, she would be forced to break into her own "vault" for coins.
Family time was also often spent sharing meals together, especially at Marion’s Pizza. Glenna’s favorite was the deluxe pizza, and it always tasted even better when she had a coupon in hand.
Glenna was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Ralph G. Reigelsperger. She is survived by her children: Ralph (Judy) Reigelsperger, Randy (Kathy) Reigelsperger, Robin (Mike) Holcomb, and Roberta (Mike) Lewis. She is also survived by cousins who were more like siblings, Judy and Dick Johnson, along with numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren who will forever treasure memories of time spent at Grandma’s house.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, with Pastor Andy Warren officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Darke County Humane Society. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.zecharbailey.com for the Reigelsperger family.
