Kenton D. Moore, 76, passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Deo and Kathryn Moore; his in-laws, Howard and Jayne Allread; and his beloved granddaughter, Addison Wenger.
Kenton is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Becky (Allread) Moore. Together they raised three daughters: Amanda (Paul) Moore-DeJohn of Greenville, Kara (Scott) Wenger of West Liberty, and Joy (Nathan) Anderson of Jenera. He was a proud grandfather to Alexander Rasool, Nicholas DeJohn, Landon (Lucy) Wenger, Emma (Derek) Wenger LeVan, Estella (Thomas Heater) Wenger, Lucy Wenger, Griffin Anderson, Maxwell Anderson, Nolan Anderson, and Brennan Anderson.
Ken was a graduate of Franklin Monroe High School class of 1967. After high school, he proudly served in the USAF as a Staff Sergeant from 1968-1972, stationed in Duluth, Minnesota; Keflavik, Iceland; and Charleston, South Carolina.
He was a dedicated employee of Fram/Honeywell for 37 years. After retirement he drove for Greenville Transit system because of his desire to continue serving the community. Kenton never met a stranger. To know him was to love him-always greeting others with a warm smile and big hug.
He was a well-known runner around town, known as the friendly, smiling runner. Over 33 years, he logged more than 45,000+ miles. He participated in numerous races, completing two marathons, two 50 mile ultramarathons, and even running the 62 mile Annie Oakley Bike Classic instead of riding a bike!
Kenton was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Greenville. He served on various committees and was instrumental in creating “The Heart and Hands of Jesus” ministry. He was also a dedicated blood donor, recently reaching his 200th donation to Versiti Blood Center of Ohio.
A dear friend shared this message that Becky wishes to pass along: “When a soul is lost on Christmas Eve, and a child is born, the soul is brought to a special place in heaven where their star will shine on all of us all the time. This love will never be forgotten and is always felt in your heart.” As you look in the sky tonight, look for the brightest star – it will be Ken shining down on us. Blessings, grace, love, and peace.
Services for Ken will be held on Saturday January 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Angela Meeks officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday January 2, 2026 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the MDS Foundation (www.mds-foundation.com) which Becky is diagnosed with or RUNX1 Research Program (www.runx1-fpd.org), whom a son in law and two grandsons are diagnosed with. Donations may also be made to Grace Resurrection food pantry.
