

Larry was born on January 31, 1937, in Darke County, Ohio to the late Forest and Ethel (Vance) Welbaum. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Eugene Welbaum, and his sisters, Janet Miller, Norma Miller, Joyce Popp, and Sharon Shaw.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruth (Schmidt) Welbaum, whom he married on October 30, 1964, and his daughter, Amy (Jeff) Harmacek as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Larry was a 1955 graduate of Arcanum High School. After high school he served his country honorably in the United States Navy for four years. He retired from Corning Glass in Greenville after 35 years of service. He was a longtime Moose Lodge member in Greenville. As far as hobbies, Larry enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was a wood worker, making many miniatures throughout the years. He will be remembered for being an avid collector of many things, most notably, trading cards (baseball, football, and basketball), coins and Matchbox & Hot Wheels cars. He enjoyed sports and was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds, the Cincinnati Bengals, the University of Cincinnati Bearcats, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Weekends were dedicated to watching Bobby Labonte on the racetrack and Phil Mickelson on the links.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, November 13th, in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Alan Knoke officiating.
Visitation to receive family and friends will precede the service on Thursday from 10 AM until service time at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will follow at Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville.
