

Slug was born on June 8, 1953, in Greenville to the late Russel & Colene (Edwards) Midlam. Slug was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Deal) Midlam; infant son, Ronald Lee Midlam; stillborn sister, Peggy Lynn Midlam; sister-in-law, Kathleen Midlam; aunt, Carolyn (James) Castle; and numerous other family members.
Slug is survived by his children, Christina & Mark McCrary, Samantha Midlam & Cory Barber, Jessica & Josh Lemley, Chantel & John Steele, and Billie Jones; grandchildren, Jason McCrary, Jayden McCrary, Jordyn McCrary, Abby Barber, Lyllee Barber, Aidan Barber, Hunter Weedman, Natalie Weedman, Alex Jobe, Joshua Steele, Justin Steele, Cassie Steele, Brittani McIntosh, Jacquelyn McIntosh, Sebastian McIntosh, Angel McIntosh, Laswan McIntosh, and Emera McIntosh; great-grandchildren, Braxtyn Bell, Aspen Weedman, Everlee Sutter, Michael Jobe, Eli Diamond, Sam Bianchi, Mia Steele, Emberlynn Francis, Chaise Vanover, Brhiley Campbell, Malcom Campbell, Raemairalynn Johnson, Nicholas McIntosh, Nevaeh McIntosh, and Symphony Shrout; brothers & sister-in-law, Russell “Gene” Midlam and Gary & Toni Midlam; sister, Marilyn Sue Shannon; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Slug was a 1972 graduate of Ansonia High School. Slug retired from Miami Industries in Piqua. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Ansonia. Slug loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a fun, laid back guy, that just enjoyed life and what it had to offer.
A celebration of Slug’s life will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Todd Reish officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Out of respect for Slug, please come in casual attire.
